Posted: July 7, 2011 Filed under: karotz, sfmuni 1 Comment »A few months ago after seeing a friend’s Nabaztag I eventually ordered a Karotz, it’s spiritual successor. Alas it arrived the same day as my new piano so it sat ignored for a couple of months. Then last week I figured having dropped $200 on it I should get it to do something more useful than playing french internet radio. So here it is telling me when the bus is coming (something I otherwise have to open up the laptop for):
Thoughts on CityCampSF
Posted: June 18, 2011 Filed under: Uncategorized Leave a comment »Today I went to CityCampSF, an unconference focused on innovation on local issues. This is the first time I’ve been to an ‘unconference’, although I’d really wanted to go to TransportationCamp but for some reason couldn’t make it.

So here it it for anyone else looking for the same thing.

Projection mapping Arthur’s Seat
Posted: June 21, 2009 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: old stuff 1 Comment »Here’s something fun I found while clearing out the hard drives on my old pc—my undergraduate graphics project. Basically it involved projection mapping photographs of Arthur’s Seat (a big hill in Edinburgh) onto a model created from map contours. Here’s a couple of videos:
Looks like shit, huh? But it was a big deal for an undergraduate in 1997
My first plugin
Posted: June 5, 2009 Filed under: Uncategorized | Tags: flame, old stuff Leave a comment »My first vfx job was with Smoke & Mirrors in London—I use the word ‘job’ in the loosest sense, as they were actually part-sponsoring my doctorate and part of the deal was that they had to employ me for three months over the three years (it was actually more complicated than that, involving a subsidiary that went bust, but that’s a story for another day).
